Sustainability Management System
The management system or sustainability policy of Surcos Tours focuses on developing tourism activities with an ecological approach, trying to generate the least negative impact on the natural and cultural resources that are part of the tourist attractions visited by our customers.
For this purpose, meetings are held prior to the tour with the clients where the collaborators explain the importance of not using or carrying plastic objects such as water bottles, and they are urged to be respectful of the flora and fauna by wearing colorful clothing and avoiding making a lot of noise.
In addition, we are constantly working to create strategic alliances with small local entrepreneurs or businesses, which allows us to create opportunities to reduce poverty in the area and increase the supply of employment. Likewise, it is included that the hiring process of Surcos Tours aims to provide opportunities for women heads of household, low-income families, taking into account one of the principles of sustainability that ensures poverty reduction.
In addition, one of the company's most important activities is the cleanup and trash collection campaigns and the leadership of environmental groups in which young people from the community are encouraged to participate, providing an opportunity to learn about positive environmental practices. Efforts are also made at the facilities to reduce energy and water consumption and generate the least negative impact.
Use environmentally friendly products
Surcos Tours has chosen to use cleaning products such as Florex, a biodegradable and environmentally friendly cleaning product. This is done with the purpose of using products that are locally sourced, that do not pollute and also reduce the use of products that generate greater damage.
Raise awareness among customers, employees and suppliers through environmental education.
Surcos Tours conducts training for employees and subcontractors, providing them with information and opportunities to improve their work areas, in conjunction with environmental organizations such as Osa Conservation.
In addition, Surcos Tours is aware that as a tourism company we always generate a negative impact on natural resources, therefore, we are constantly reviewing how to mitigate or offset these impacts; for which as we have mentioned, we have formed an environmental leadership group with young people from the community: Green Parakeets, this group aims to perform tasks such as garbage collection, reforestation and active participation in activities that take place in the community to improve the quality of the environment.
Reduce, recycle and reuse polluting materials, avoid impact to flora and fauna in the area.
The company's facilities are committed to being as sustainable as possible, from covering the reflective part of the windows with important legends about the company to prevent birds from colliding with them, to placing recycling containers so that employees, customers and suppliers who use the offices and other facilities can classify recyclable material.
Accessibility with our customers, suppliers and collaborators
We are committed to being an accessible and inclusive company, which respects the right of movement of all people, so we have implemented a useful entrance for people with motor disabilities who move by wheelchair, also taking into account the elderly to have greater ease of entering our facilities.
As a company we aim to include signs in fraille with images of Corcovado that are relevant, or some sensory method, this in order to offer visually impaired customers a better experience, and work on some important information in sign language.
