Golfo Dulce is one of the most exuberant places in Costa Rica, located in the warm Costa Rican Pacific, where we can find one of the liveliest ecosystems in the entire region.

This is one of four tropical fjords that exist in the world and is famous for hosting a wide variety of wildlife, including dolphins, whales, (depending on the season) sea turtles and coral reefs where the adventure will end with a dive into the depths to discover its colorful inhabitants.

The Golfo Dulce is home to two different families of these aquatic mammals, the spotted and bottlenose dolphin, both located in different sectors. The spotted dolphin is usually in the center of the sea and travels in groups of 30 or more individuals.

In contrast, the bottlenose dolphin is concentrated at river mouths and this species moves in groups of IO to 12 individuals. On different occasions you can find both species grouped in the same spot, even interacting together.

They are so sociable and curious that you will admire how they jump close to the boat.

Bioluminescence

This is a guided night tour to one of the most amazing natural phenomena in the world!

Starting before sunset, we paddle along Puntarenitas beach to watch the sunset and usually some wild noses and spinner dolphins.

Once it's dark enough, watch how each stroke of your paddle leaves a swirl of bright light or swim in warm, shimmering beach water.

This adventure can only be described as magical. Bioluminescence is "life-emitting light" is a common occurrence in this region; however, finding an area with high concentrations on a regular basis is something not to be missed.

Bioluminescence is best seen when there is less ambient light from the environment, it is best on moonless nights. However, this does not mean that you cannot see this effect during a full moon. Optimal days for viewing are based not only on the phases of the moon but also on the actual rise time of the moon and rain.

No experience is necessary, our adventures are for everyone. Our trips are designed to cater to all levels of experience and abilities.
