    All about the La Tarde One Day or Two Days Tour.

    La Tarde is a family project that began more than 15 years ago in a small community of very few families located in the upper parts of the Osa Peninsula next to the Corcovado National Park. The place has become a hot spot for amphibians and reptiles, it is the only place in the world where one of the two largest vipers of the world (Black-headed Bushmaster) has been studied in its natural habitat.  In La Tarde also has been discovered a new species of rodent for the country.

    One of the things that tourists like most is the family atmosphere and the freedom to organize their time on the trails at their own pleasure. Also in the night walks you can see huge tarantulas, scorpions, leaf insects, mantis, frogs, snakes and if it is rainy season you can see the iconic poisonous frogs and glass frogs. At night during the rainy season you can see the bioluminescent fungi.

    The rooms in La Tarde are comfortable without hot water or electric light in most rooms, except those found near the restaurant, one of the things you enjoy most are the sounds of the nights and be able to contemplate the stars in full darkness

    By staying to sleep in La Tarde you will support a family that decided to stop cultivating the land to let the forest recover and you will also be benefiting an entire community economically.

    1. Itinerary Activities

      The first day you will meet the guide at 6 am at the hotel for your procedure to board the private taxi that will take you to La Tarde in approximately 40 minutes.

      In the afternoon you will be greeted with a friendly welcome to proceed to check-in at the hotel and start the tour. You can see the four types of monkeys, a great variety of birds and it offers an excellent opportunity to observe reptiles and amphibians due to the great biodiversity hidden in this small sector. The trails are mostly steep, giving them a high level of difficulty.

      Between the hours of 12 to 13:00 hours enjoying lunch and after taking a 2-hour break. To continue recording different trails, in the forest the possibilities of observing different animals and plants.

      Then they will return around 7pm to taste a delicious dinner and if they wish they can take a night walk to observe the extraordinary glass frogs where they can have three different species. Taking advantage of the possibilities to observe snakes among other nocturnal species.

      The next day, we will hike around 5 am to return back to the hotel and have breakfast after boarding the transportation to Puerto Jiménez.

    The trails are recommended for people in excellent physical condition because the trails are quite steep.

    Definitely, but if you prefer you can buy bottled water in Puerto Jiménez.

    In the afternoon, despite being off the grid, it has a solar charging station that works during the day, while at night the generator runs 3 to 4 hours.
