    All about the Horseback Riding Tour.

    The Horseback riding tour is offered in Cabo Matapalo which is located at the tip of the Osa Peninsula where the Golfo Dulce and the Pacific Ocean meet, is a protected forest area and is part of the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve.

    Rancho Tropical is a cattle farm that preserves a large part of the property with forest cover, they started using their cowboys as tour guides who also take care of livestock. Rancho Tropical offers a wide range of exciting activities highlighting a unique and memorable horse ride, a jungle tour that combines panoramic views and observation of local wildlife. In the facilities of the farm they will give you an induction on the route in general, the correct maneuvers to ride and the safety equipment that you must use. On the property they have approximately 22 horses for use in the tours.

    Upon return they will wait for you at the facilities with a snack (fruits and water) to end the tour.

    1. Itinerary Activities

      Rancho Tropical is located in Matapalo, Peninsula de Osa. The meeting place is Bar Buena Esperanza, at the agreed time,There, the guide  will be waiting for you with the horses. You will be given induction into the route and the right maneuvers to ride and the safety equipment you should use.

      The tour starts with a quiet ride on the beach for 25 minutes and then crosses the cattle fields and to enter the dense rainforest.

      During the tour you can observe some animals and birds. For safety you should get off the horse to climb a hill where you can observe the sea from above. Near the trail just 15 minutes away is the highest waterfall in all Matapalo to enjoy the freshness that emanates from nature. It will take a 30-minute break to return to the starting point.

      On return they will wait with a snack (fruits and water) to finish the tour.

    No, it is not a requirement, just want to take the tour.

    The ride does not have any technical technique or physical difficulty, so any person can do it. We advise children from 8 years old. Minors must travel accompanied by a responsible person.

    The route is mostly on horseback, only to visit the falls you need to walk around 25 minutes on a slightly steep path.
