All about the Coto River´s Mangrove Tour.

The Golfo Dulce is one of the most exuberant places in Costa Rica, it is located in the warm Costa Rican Pacific where we can find one of the most diverse ecosystems in the entire region, since it is one of the four tropical fjords that exist in the world, is it divided administratively between the cantons of Osa and Golfito.

Noted for its calm and crystalline waters is a scenario that simulates a gigantic mirror of the sky when it presents a warm climate with calm wind. Another natural wealth of the Gulf is the mangroves, three different and developed species known as the red, white and black mangroves predominate.

In the Golfo Dulce, one of our recommendations is to take the Mangrove Tour of the Coto River. The tour starts from the public dock located in Golfito, you can reach this small town by car (the streets are suitable for any vehicle) or by boat, usually the departure time is at 8 am to board the boat.

Presents availability for 10 passengers (by boat) included. Then they will be given the safety instructions that they should keep during the tour such as: keeping their hands behind the boat, they should not move from their seat if the transport is in motion, for any emergency listen to the captain and, mainly keep posts life jackets For this activity they are recommended to wear comfortable clothes, sandals, sunscreen and hats (the latter is optional). The trip to get to the Mangroves can take around 40 min, during the trip you have opportunities to observe different species of birds and if you are very lucky some group of dolphins, usually the spotted or bottlenose.

The Mangroves provide an ecosystem service because they function as nurseries for fish, protect the coasts against storms and hurricanes while providing food to a wide variety of animals, these factors greatly increase the chances of observing different animals.

After the tour you will enjoy 1 hour to rest and enjoy a snack at Adelita beach and then return again to the port in Golfito.
